At RACQ, we’re committed to being a force for good; for today, and for the future. That means doing our part to tackle climate change. With this in mind, I’m proud to be able to share with you some of our latest developments as part of our broader sustainability roadmap, helping Queenslanders and our members transition to a greener future.
In an exciting new step on our sustainability journey, RACQ has acquired a majority shareholding in the highly awarded solar company – GEM Energy. Founded in Emerald in 2013, GEM Energy has consistently led the way in solar, providing quality, innovation, and service. I’m incredibly pleased to be welcoming them into the RACQ family.
Our RACQ branded solar offering will launch later this year.
In addition to this investment, we’ve embraced a number of emission reduction initiatives that will put RACQ on a path to be carbon neutral by 2030. We are securing green electricity to support our offices across the state. We’ve started to transition our fleet and will continue to do so as further vehicles come on the market that match our requirements.
We’re helping make sustainability more affordable and accessible for our members, so we can all tread more lightly on the earth, including:
- RACQ Bank Green Home Loans help cover the cost of eco-improvements to your home*
- Roadside Assistance continues to evolve to support new technology, with cover for electric vehicles (EV) now standard across our multiple levels of cover+
- Comprehensive Car Insurance is available for your electric vehicle
- Solar panels are covered as standard with our Home Insurance
- Supporting the steadily growing network of electric vehicle chargers, including the Queensland Electric Super Highway, in partnership with the Queensland Government and Yurika
- RACQ Mobility Centre at Mount Cotton supporting the education, training and testing of present and future smart mobility solutions, such as the RACQ Smart Shuttle
