How to add Cruise Cover to your RACQ Travel Insurance policy
For eligible cruises, you can add Cruise Cover to your travel insurance policy for an additional premium. This optional benefit helps cover unforeseen events while cruising, whether your trip is cruise-only or includes a cruise as part of a broader overseas journey.
-
If your ocean/international cruise docks at an Australian port:Select ‘Australian Cruise’ under ‘Destinations’ when purchasing a policy for cruises travelling around Australian ports. This coverage depends on whether your vessel is commercially operated or privately chartered, and whether it has onboard medical facilities.
-
If your international cruise does not dock at an Australian port:Simply select the countries your cruise travels to then choose our Cruise Cover option for unexpected events, medical expenses on board or at sea while holidaying on a commercially operated vessel for more than one night on international waters.1
-
If you’re going on a river cruise, international or domestic:Cover for both international and domestic river cruising is automatically included in your international or domestic travel insurance policy and you don’t need to select the “Cruise Cover” when getting a travel insurance quote online. For international river cruising, medical evacuation and medical costs will be covered subject to the policy terms and conditions. However, medical expenses and evacuations are not covered for Australian river cruises. While Medicare covers medical treatment within Australia, any medical evacuation costs will be your Responsibility. Cabin confinement and missed ports are not covered for river cruising.1
