What does my RACQ Domestic Travel Insurance plan cover?

    Up to $7,500 per Adult for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage items including smart phones, tablets, and computers.1

    Cover for cancellation fees and lost deposits if unforeseen circumstances cancel or cut your trip short, including COVID-197. The option to choose your cancellation cover is available on select plans1

    Medical and evacuation benefits whilst at sea if you’re going on a cruise in Australian waters or only calling into Australian ports. Select “Australian Cruise” as your country of destination when completing the quote form if you are going on a cruise for two nights or more.5

    Cover for up to $1,500 for additional meals and accommodation expenses, after an initial 6-hour delay, if your trip is disrupted due to circumstances beyond your control and you cannot claim the expenses from anyone else.1

    Rental car excess
    Cover for the rental car insurance excess or the cost of repairs which would have been covered under the excess, whichever is the lesser, if you rent a vehicle from a recognised rental company and it is involved in an accident or stolen whilst in your control and you are legally liable to pay. This includes payments that you are responsible for under the terms of your Rental Vehicle agreement following accidental damage to windscreens and tyres.1

    Cover for up to $25,000 for additional travel costs, emergency calls, meals, and accommodation expenses within reasonable limits if your trip is disrupted by an event such as natural disaster or severe weather condition, lost or stolen documentation, or if your home or business premises in Australia are destroyed by fire, storm, earthquake or flood.1

    You can choose to change your excess. The default excess for our Domestic Travel Insurance Policy is $100 but can be reduced to $0 for an increased premium. Your excess will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance.1

    Domestic Cancellation Policy

    Coverage is provided for up to $1,000 for each listed adult if your trip is cancelled or cut short at any time through circumstances beyond your control. This cover includes:

    • Cancellation fees and lost deposits for travel and accommodation arrangements that you have prepaid and cannot recover in any other way1
    • Prepaid tickets for tours and theme parks that can no longer be used as a result of your trip cancellation1
    • COVID-19 cover does apply to this policy type7

    Rental Car Excess Only Policy

    Coverage is provided for the cost of the rental car excess or the cost of repairs which would have been covered under the excess, whichever is the lesser, if you hire a vehicle from a recognised rental company and it is involved in an accident or stolen. This cover includes:

    • The excess component up to the applicable benefit limit stated on your Rental Vehicle policy. You can choose up to $8,000 in excess cover1 per policy.11
    • Drivers accepted by the rental company and listed on your Rental Vehicle agreement.
    • Payments you are responsible for under the terms of your Rental Vehicle agreement following accidental damage to windscreens and tyres.1
    • COVID-19 cover does not apply to this policy type7

    Ski & Winter Sports Optional Add-on
    • Up to $1,000 for accidental loss, theft of, or damage to, your snow skiing equipment1
    • Up to $500 for the unused portion of the irrecoverable cost of your pre-paid and pre-booked ski passes, ski hire, tuition fees, or lift passes if you are injured or become unwell during your trip and are unable to utilise the full duration1
