RACQ President Elizabeth Jameson said it was a great privilege to continue the Club’s long relationship with the office of the Governor of Queensland.

“It is an honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s representative in Queensland accepted our offer of the role as vice-regal patron of the Club, a duty carried out by Her Excellency’s predecessor the Honourable Paul de Jersey and a long line of Queensland Governors before him,” Ms Jameson said.

“We have carried our Royal prefix with great pride since 1921 when in recognition of the Club's patriotic efforts during the Great War, His Majesty King George V approved its use.

“RACQ has also had a long association with the medical profession, with 10 of the 18 founding members of RACQ medical practitioners, including Dr Lillian Cooper, Queensland’s first registered female doctor.”

Ms Jameson said the patronage would be in place for the duration of Her Excellency’s term in office.

“As a symbol of our gratitude for the support that comes with this vice-regal patronage, we are pleased to afford honorary RACQ membership to Her Excellency during the term of the patronage, including roadside assistance benefits for the Government House vehicles,”  she said.

“As Queensland’s largest Club, with a mission to serve all of our members and their communities, we thank Her Excellency for her work and ongoing support.”

Her Excellency was sworn-in as the 27th Governor of Queensland on 1 November 2021, for more information, view her biography here.
