An application should be submitted for each position you apply for.
What you’ll need
- A cover letter clearly identifying the position you are applying for, and outlining your skills and experience.
- A clear, concise and up-to-date resume with relevant contact details, and work history.
- Your application must be received by the Hiring Manager prior to the closing date and time, in order to be considered;
- You must be an Australian Citizen, have permanent residency status or an appropriate working visa to apply for a position with RACQ.

Below is a typical recruitment process at RACQ. Although your experience may vary depending on the role and business area, we hope this gives you the insight you need to plan and prepare.
Stage 1: Submit your online application
Hopefully you’ve found the perfect role for you – the ideal match for your skills, experience, qualifications and career aspirations. So, it’s time to submit your application online. Due to the volume of applications we receive, it may take us a few weeks to get back to you with an outcome.
Tip: Make sure you have a good understanding of the role you’re applying for before you fill in your application form, and tailor your application accordingly.
Stage 2: Culture Quiz, and/or Phone/Virtual Interview
If your profile matches what we are looking for, you may be invited to complete a short culture quiz to get a feel for our culture and values.
Alternatively, a member of the RACQ careers team will contact you to discuss your application further. Based on the role, you will get an opportunity to answer some kick-off questions over the phone, or via a digital/video interview, which can be completed in your own time in the convenience of your own home. Consider it an opportunity to put a face to the name, show us why you're excited about the role and why you'd be a great fit.
Tip: Be yourself. It doesn't matter if you lose your train of thought or muddle an answer – just show us your personality.
Stage 3: Interview time
From here, you’ll be invited to attend a face to face interview. The interview is designed to evaluate your knowledge, skills and experience. When recruiting for some positions, (like contact centre or retail staff) a group interview/assessment centre will be arranged where you’ll take part in group activities, as well as meet some key people within the team. If you’ve got any questions about the business or the role, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask.
Tip: Remember, a group interview is still a formal interview. You need to stand out, and we suggest wearing smart business attire.
Stage 4: Online assessments
We may invite you to participate in psychometric and/or other online assessments which allows us to better understand your abilities and personality. We use these to further explore your fit with our culture and assess some of the capabilities required to perform in the role. For many of these assessments, there’s no right or wrong answers, so try to relax!
Tip: Complete the assessment in a quiet place where you will not be interrupted or distracted, and if possible, get a good sleep the night before.
Stage 5: Pre-employment checks
You’re nearly there. If you’re successful to this point, we may conduct some pre-employment checks. Checks may include (but not limited to) police and criminal history checks, reference checks and/or a pre-employment medical assessment. We may also look to verify your education and previous employment history, and visa status/working rights.
Tip: We just need to wrap up a few last pieces in the process, so make sure you provide the required information as swiftly as possible. The sooner we have the checks completed, the faster we can offer you the role.
Stage 6: The offer
Congratulations! Once the employment and background checks have been completed, we’ll call you with the exciting news of your offer to work with us and give you all the information you need to make a decision that’s right for you. You will be issued with a written letter of offer/employment contract, plus some additional information about joining RACQ - including showcasing all the employee benefits which will be available to you.

Yes. If you are interested in multiple positions and your skills and experience match the requirements outlined in the position description, please apply for each position. We will consider your application for each position.
What happens after I submit my resume online?
Once you apply for a position, we’ll send you an email confirming that we have received it. Then if you are successful in gaining an interview we will contact you. If you are not successful in gaining an interview you will be notified.
