RACQ’s largest community event, MotorFest, is back in 2025 with an action-packed schedule of events, including roving entertainment, kids’ rides, food stalls and an array of wonderful prestige, vintage, unique and collector vehicles, as well as the latest in vehicle and transport technology.
RACQ Events Manager Tamara Van Der Walt said the event, at Brisbane Showgrounds on 15 June, would feature new activations in 2025 alongside familiar favourites.
“RACQ MotorFest is back this year, and we are expecting to see more than 500 unique cars on display,” Ms Van Der Walt said.
“Aside from the usual family-friendly attractions, there will be some exciting new additions to this year’s event.
“To mark a centenary of RACQ Roadside Assistance, we will be hosting a special display featuring the Club’s historic fleet and a phone booth for attendees to call in a roadside job like our patrols used to.
“Whether you’re a motoring enthusiast, want to enjoy a family day out or test out the latest vehicle technology, there really is something for everyone at this event.”
MotorFest 2025 highlights
Celebrate 100 years of RACQ Roadside Assistance
Since 1925, RACQ Roadside Assistance has served Queenslanders in their times of need, no matter where they are or when they need us. Take an exclusive look through RACQ’s rear-view mirror and check out a special display featuring the Club’s historic fleet. Attendees will also have the chance to check out the uniforms of our first ever patrols as well as take a photo in an old phone booth.
Check out the 2025 feature marque
Each year RACQ Motorfest celebrates a feature marque and this year we celebrate 100 years of the iconic American carmaker, Chrysler.
Founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler, who had previously worked in the Buick Division at General Motors, from the remains of the Maxwell Motor Company, the new entity followed a similar brand diversification and hierarchy structure to GM, manufacturing cars under multiple brands including Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and DeSoto.
Curiously, the first car to wear the Chrysler nameplate, the Chrysler Six, was launched not by Chrysler but by the Maxwell Motor Company in 1924, months before Walter Chrysler rescued the car maker by forming his eponymous car company.
The Chrysler Six did, however, personify the attributes Walter Chrysler would later identify as key characteristics of a Chrysler automobile, being an affordable luxury vehicle with a generous list of standard features, and innovative engineering. Notable among the latter was the Six’s light, powerful, and high-compression six-cylinder engine, as well as the first use of four-wheel hydraulic brakes in a moderately-priced vehicle.
Among its many automotive milestones, Chrysler can lay claim to being the first brand to create a truly streamlined, or aerodynamic passenger car, with the 1934 Airflow, and the first to develop the legendary HEMI V8 engine. This engine design, with its unique hemispheric-cylinder-heads and exceptional performance, has remained a key part of the brand’s DNA since its inception in 1951.
Like the other Big Three US automakers Chrysler is also fondly remembered for its contributions to the extravagantly finned designs of the 1950s and 1960s, including the Virgil Exner designed Chrysler 300C of 1957.
Meet 'Frankie' at MotorFest
Among the most famous and influential car designers ever, Exner was responsible for creating Chrysler’s ‘Letter Series’ cars, which included the 300C and the 1960 Chrysler 300F owned by April Maxwel which will be one of dozens of early and late model Chrysler’s on display at this year’s RACQ Motorfest.
The 1960 Chrysler 300F is named “Frankie” after Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and was imported to Australia by April and her husband after they came across it at a Chrysler meet in the United States.
Designed as a high-performance luxury car and regarded as early examples of the US-muscle car genre, the “letter series” cars began production in 1955 with the 300C (C-300) and ended in 1965 with the 300L.
The 300F was launched in the States in 1960 and boasts a 375hp (280kW) “Cross Ram” version of Chrysler’s 413-cubic inch (6.8-litre) Wedge Head V8. Among this epic car’s notable inclusions are four individual, leather bucket seats, swiveling front seats, and a full-length console running from the dash to rear seatback.
With its luxurious interior, sharp-edged styling and outward-tilting tail fins, it’s easy to see how April and her husband fell instantly in love with Frankie and began the arduous six-month process of bring the captivating Chrysler back to Queensland.
RACQ MotorFest 2025 attendees can see Frankie and many other classic Chryslers, as well as examples of all manner of other makes, models and marques in what promises to be a spectacular showcase of iconic automobiles.
