Warranties are processed as goodwill and are not an admission of a product failure.

RACQ may not accept the results of any tests performed by another repairer or manufacturer in determining if an alternator or starter motor has failed under the terms of this Warranty and may instead conduct our own tests.

Other than those statutory provisions which cannot be excluded, we exclude all conditions and warranties which may be implied by law.

Warranty Claim Procedure

If you do not hold a current RACQ Roadside product at the time the warranty claim is made, a service fee may be charged if roadside assistance is provided by RACQ.

The warranty claim will not be allowed unless proof of purchase (e.g. receipt or bank or credit card statement showing the product purchase) is provided. It is your responsibility to provide proof of purchase for any warranty claim.

Warranty Period

The warranty period in respect of an Alternator or Starter Motor sold by RACQ is limited to the warranty period offered by the supplier or manufacturer.

RACQ warrants its workmanship for the period of:

  • for Vehicles used only for private use - 12 months or 40,000km, whichever comes first
  • for Vehicles used wholly or partly for commercial use (including ride share) - 3 months

If the vehicle’s use changes from wholly private use to wholly or partly commercial use (including ride share), the warranty period will be reduced accordingly.

You are ineligible for any replacement Alternator or Starter Motor, if you are not the original purchaser of the Alternator or Starter Motor from RACQ.

When required, an Electrical System Memory Protector (ESMP) is used to ensure retention of the vehicle’s system memory. Responsibility for damage caused that is not related to the Alternator or Starter Motor fitment cannot be accepted.
