What does my RACQ Contents Insurance cover?

Food spoilage
We pay up to $1,000 per claim for spoiled frozen and refrigerated food and medicines at your home if caused by an insured event, refrigerant fumes escaping, fridge or freezer break down or a public electricity failure. No excess is payable.
Clean-up costs
We pay up to 10% of the contents sum insured for the cost of cleaning up the mess or damage caused by a thief, vandal or forensic police investigation.
Contents in storage
We can cover you for contents up to your contents sum insured that you store away from your home for up to 60 consecutive days, if you let us know in advance.
Extra living expenses
On top of your contents sum insured, we will pay an additional amount up to 10% of the contents sum insured for extra living expenses while your damaged home is being rebuilt or repaired.
Visitors’ contents
If we pay your claim for an insured event, we also pay up to $500 towards the cost of replacing any visitors’ lost or damaged contents.
