RACQ marks 10 years of supporting Queensland communities
Since 2016, RACQ has worked alongside local councils, charities and community groups across Queensland to deliver practical support where it’s needed most.

What began as mechanical assistance for farmers affected by drought has grown into a statewide program spanning general volunteering, trade repairs, technology support, disaster recovery and community resilience.
RACQ Community Coordinator Amanda Edwards, who helped deliver the most recent project in Charters Towers, said the 10-year program has reached 33 communities, with 1,035 volunteers contributing more than 42,000 hours.
“RACQ’s community assistance projects have shown what can be achieved when volunteers come together with a shared purpose,” Ms Edwards said.
“From repairing facilities and restoring public spaces to lending a hand at community events and supporting recovery efforts, our volunteers have made a practical and lasting difference from the outback to coastal regions.
“This 10-year milestone is a credit to all of our volunteers, community and trade partners and local councils who showed up for Queenslanders when it really matters.”
RACQ will build on this legacy through its new Community Impact Strategy announced earlier this year, which sets a framework for future partnerships to strengthen community resilience, improve road safety and support a more inclusive energy transition across Queensland.
For the first time, RACQ is also creating volunteering opportunities for members through partnerships, helping scale our community impact.
“As we look to the next decade, we want to make it easier for more people, including our members, to volunteer in their local communities,” Ms Edwards said.
“We’ve seen firsthand the difference many hands can make in Queensland, and by bringing more people and partners into the program, we want to continue building stronger, more socially resilient communities.”
