Nestled amongst the Canadian Rockies is the small town of Banff. It boasts some of the world's most stunning landscapes and holds it's own as a premier destination for travellers.
The UNESCO World Heritage listed Banff National Park is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts and depending on when you visit this lovely town there are plenty of things to see and do.
In the winter you can ski, snowboard or even try your hand at tubing down the snowy mountainsides. To get warm try a relaxing dip in the hot springs all while taking in the magnificent scenery that surrounds you.
For something a little bit different try a horse-drawn sleigh ride through snowy trails. Keep nice a cosy with a hot chocolate and a blanket while you are escorted through the snow and evergreen trees.
When the snow melts away there is even more to see and do in Banff. If you are into hiking, take a trip through lush wildflowers up to the summit of the mountains. Take in the spectacular views from a tea-house or take it to new heights and climb the Rocky Mountains.
In the summer as the lakes unfreeze it becomes a paradise for water activities. Grab the family and go swimming or kayaking. You could be more adventurous and go white water rafting through rapids and rivers.
Just outside the town visit Lake Louise another beautiful location in Canada which offers more stunning scenery and activities for the whole family.
When staying in Banff there is a range of accommodation available from cosy wooden cabins, secure camping grounds, to high class hotels.
Transport around town is easy. You can use a car, bicycle, snowmobile (in the winter) or take an energy efficient bus. It is only a short hour and a half (146km) shuttle bus trip from The Calgary International Airport.
